Crisis Management
In a sudden and severe emergency, Wayne State University’s foremost concern is the safety and welfare of students, faculty, staff and the surrounding community. The Executive Vice President has launched a special initiative to establish a uniform campus-wide crisis management plan to minimize the negative effects of unforeseen events such as severe weather, fire or violent disruptions. This includes the formation of a crisis management team to lead the campus community through an emergency situation from beginning to end. The team will also make determinations about the scope and nature of the response as well as coordinate information about the crisis to internal and external constituencies. Training will be provided to key university personnel on proper protocol during crisis.

Strategic Planning
Wayne State University’s 2006-2011 Strategic Action Plan, endorsed by the Board of Governors and the Academic Senate, is the result of a 16-month inclusive process involving consultation and discussion with a broad spectrum of university stakeholders including students, faculty, staff, alumni and civic and community leaders. Organized according to five strategic directions, the plan builds on the university’s unique strengths and attributes, identifying the core values on which Wayne State will achieve an ambitious set of aspirations and goals over the next five years.
